Visualization Skills

Watch the above video. It is very persuasive if you follow bits on self improvement. The guidance from this video can be applied in treating depression, general well being, to achieving professional prowess and onto business leadership.

Maybe the ideas aren’t entirely new, but the argument is presented persuasively. This concept of visualization builds upon meditation practices IMHO, and it provides a certain structure to the process. For example, meditation practices suggest you to become an observer, and to disconnect from yourself. That is visualization in its purest form.

When you want to add a goal such as personal improvement to visualization, you are getting tactical about things. Which is fine, but without it is also okay.

However one uses the technique, it sure is powerful. The idea of deconstructing and reconstructing via the techniques proposed is one to learn and master.

The video talks about the Reticular Activating System in the brain as a filter that confirms your views — that explains why we are able to focus on some things and not getting distracted with many other things, and explains why this is also the reason for confirmation bias. How can we constantly deconstruct and reconstruct this system.

Simple — visualize what you want to see about yourself for 30 seconds for 30 days in a row. Just 30 seconds. It can be anything.
